Who's ready for a national, Bernie Sanders inspired Progressive Party?
Good news! Here is our initial platform:
- NO CORPORATE MONEY
- Economic Justice
- Social Justice
- Environmental Justice
- Healthcare is a Human Right
We want to point out that a more robust and/or specific platform will be created democratically by a new party when the time comes for a national convention. The reason we don't have a broader platform yet is because we want our platform to have broad input. We also want to point out that POLICY is different than PLATFORM. That is, "a livable wage" is platform, and "$15/hr" is policy.
The Vermont Progressive Party was founded in 1981 around Bernie Sanders’ first mayoral victory in Burlington, Vermont. They now have the nation's highest ranking elected third party official, Vermont's Lieutenant Governor, Progressive David Zuckerman. They are one of the strongest and most successful third parties in the country and it is our aim to replicate their success nationally by building state parties from the grassroots up; by sticking to the issues, by empowering people, and by taking back our democracy.
**Disclaimer**
National Progressive Party is not a formal affiliate of the Vermont Progressive Party and never has been. We simply see that their model works and plan to implement it nation wide.
