I’m a technologist, computer science professor, and a progressive running for Congress in Pennsylvania's 3rd district.
For over a decade, I've been working in communities across Philadelphia with a mission to reduce the harms caused by the marginalization of minoritized groups in STEM spaces. I do this work because I recognize the path to economic independence that it enables, and the harm caused when members of these communities are not at the table.
Currently, we are at an inflection point in our society the likes of which we haven't seen in a century. With breakthroughs in AI, autonomous vehicles, digital currencies, medical science and other technologies, the world as we know it is shifting dramatically. Despite the benefits these advances in technology will create for humanity, we run the risk of perpetuating and increasing the damage inflicted on underrepresented communities.
We cannot continue along a path where politicians in Washington are unwilling or unable to address the impact of technological developments in our lives. Our economy, education system, healthcare, and every other facet of society are being transformed. We need leaders who are equipped to address these changes.
This is why I'm running for Congress: to be part of a new generation of lawmakers who fully understand the world we're entering. As a Representative, I will fight to curb the influence of Big Tech and their profit-driven motives on society.
