This November in Marbletown, VOTE YES on
Local Law: Water Quality, Working Farms, Wildlife Habitat and Natural Areas Preservation Fund
Clean water, local farms, small town character, rail trails and parks that anyone can use – all these make Marbletown a great place to live. Right now, our town doesn’t have a sustainable revenue source to spend on protecting land for future generations. So, what’s the solution?
SUPPORT the Real Estate Transfer Tax — a sustainable revenue source for Marbletown’s Community Preservation Fund — and vote yes for this Local Law on the November 2022 election ballot!
What is the Real Estate Transfer Tax, and who pays it? The tax is a one-time fee paid by the buyer of a house or property in Marbletown — it doesn’t apply to folks who already live here. The Real Estate Transfer Tax is an investment in our future. As development pressures increase, we cannot just rely on Marbletown's town government to protect our scenic views, our water, or even our very way of life. By asking people who move to this town to pitch in — as we residents have all pitched in over the years — we are being smart and proactive about our own future, and the future of Marbletown.
