Call on Congress to Hold Kristi Noem Accountable

The Department of Homeland Security is out of control — and Secretary Kristi Noem is responsible.

Under her leadership, aggressive federal immigration operations have escalated across American cities with deadly consequences. In just weeks, two people are dead:

• Renée Good, killed during a federal immigration operation

• Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse, shot and killed by a Border Patrol agent while unarmed and holding only his phone

These deaths were not isolated incidents. They occurred amid expanding ICE and Border Patrol deployments, unclear command authority, and increasingly aggressive tactics that have fueled fear, unrest, and protests in communities nationwide.

When lives were lost, the response from DHS leadership was not accountability — it was deflection.

Secretary Noem publicly defended federal agents before investigations were complete, failed to provide transparent answers to the public, and allowed the same dangerous practices to continue unchecked.

This reflects a broader pattern of reckless leadership at DHS, including:

• Immigration agents operating far beyond traditional border zones

• Conflicting and misleading official accounts following fatal encounters

• Escalations that endanger civilians, protesters, and bystanders

• A refusal to impose meaningful oversight or consequences

The Secretary of Homeland Security is charged with protecting the public. Instead, these actions have placed communities at risk and eroded trust in federal law enforcement.

Congress must act — now.

The U.S. House of Representatives has both the authority and the responsibility to intervene when an executive official abuses power and endangers the public.

We call on the House to:

• Open an immediate investigation into DHS under Secretary Noem

• Fully examine the deaths of Renée Good and Alex Pretti

• Investigate ICE and Border Patrol conduct nationwide

• Introduce and pursue articles of impeachment against Secretary Kristi Noem
