Born and raised in Gwinnett County, Georgia, Dr. Everton Blair Jr. is the proud son of Jamaican immigrants, an educator, and former School Board Chairman of Georgia's largest public school district - Gwinnett County Public Schools.

Everton is running to represent Georgia’s 13th Congressional District because too many families are working harder but getting less; squeezed by rising costs, aging infrastructure, and leaders who’ve grown disconnected from the people they serve. This race is the most important Democratic Primary of 2026; it’s a flagship contest in the preservation of our democracy.

Everton has a strong record of success in public service. In 2018, Everton ran for School Board at just 26 years old. Despite being told that a Democrat could not win on an entirely Republican Board, he won, making history as the first person of color and the youngest- ever member. After being elected to the Board, he worked to flip two seats, creating a Democratic majority on the Board, and was unanimously elected Board Chair. Everton led the Metro Atlanta COVID-19 pandemic response, successfully raised teacher pay and expanded student services.

That’s the kind of proven, effective leadership Everton will bring toCongress. He serves with conviction and without compromise, and he knows what it takes to govern and deliver real progress.

Before serving locally, Everton taught high school math in Atlanta Public Schools, trained superintendents across the country, and worked on President Obama’s White House Initiative on Educational Excellence. He holds a bachelor’s and doctorate from Harvard University (B.A., Ed.L.D.) and a master’s from Stanford University.
